What are the Continuing Education requirements for Louisiana Water Operators?

All LA Water Operators are required to renew every two years on December 31. However, the year of renewal and number of hours required is dependent upon the first letter of your last name and your license type:

  • Required Hours:
    • 1 Certification - At least 16 contact hours every two years
    • 2 Certifications - 16 contact hours (8 hours for each certification) every two years
    • 3 Certifications - 24 hours (8 hours per certification) every two years
  • Renewal Year: The deadline for license renewal is Dec. 31st, every two years. Last names starting with A-J renew in even-numbered years and last names starting with K-Z renew in odd-numbered years.

Courses approved by the Department of Health and Hospitals/Office of Public Health.
